MOTTOLA, Stephanie (Pihach) – Passed away peacefully in her sleep on Sunday, February 11, 2018, at home with her family after a courageous battle with colon cancer, at the age of 91. Beloved wife of the late Guido (Guy) Mottola (2010). Devoted mother of Michelle “Shelley” (Gord Marchiori). Adored grandmother of Jocelyn and Katelyn. Dear sister of Margaret Leon and Ruby Anderson. Sister-in-law of Alma Dickerson, Mary Mottola, Jean Hetherington (Ken), Carol Mottola, John Mottola (Carmel) and Peter Mottola (Judy). Mama and grandma to her extended family Nguyen and Tuyet Thai and sons David (Anna) and John (Tiffany) and their children; Liam and Alyssa. Fondly remembered by many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Predeceased by her parents; Annie and Michael “Max” Pihach, brother George Pihach (Mary) and sisters Jennie Lemiech (Stanley) and Vada Scott (Wayne), sister-in-law; Betty Harpes, brothers-in-law; Lewie Leon, Murray Mottola, Alfred Mottola, Jim Dickerson and Jim Harpes. Stephanie graduated from Mack Training School of Nursing in 1948. She worked in Toronto, Stratford, Victoria, New York City and the Greater Niagara General Hospital. Stephanie became a certified Occupational Health Nurse and worked for Cyanamid Welland Plant for 35 years, where she met the love of her life Guy. She volunteered for 25 years at the Red Cross Blood Services Clinic and was a member of the Catholic Women’s League for many years.
The family will receive friends at MORSE & SON FUNERAL HOME, 5917 Main St., Niagara Falls, on Thursday from 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. Funeral mass will be celebrated at Our Lady of the Scapular Church, 6557 Thorold Stone Rd. Niagara Falls, on Friday, February 16, 2018 at 10:30 a.m. Inurnment to take place at a later time in Stamford Green Heritage Columbarium. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to the Walker Cancer Centre through Niagara Health Foundation would be appreciated by the family.
