A third generation funeral director, Ernie has been a managing director with Morgan Funeral Homes (Morse & Son Chapel) since 1990. Born in Toronto and raised in Niagara-on-the-Lake, Ernie moved to Niagara Falls in 1971. He started working full-time as an intern at the funeral home in 1977 and graduated with honours from Humber College's Funeral Services Education Program in 1978.
He has a continuing involvement with a number of industry professional associations. He has served as President of the Ontario Funeral Service Association (2011-12), as well as being a member of that organization's Management and Legislative Committees. He is also a past president of the Niagara District Funeral Association and has served as a member of the Humber College Advisory Committee for Funeral Service Education. In addition, he is a past director of the Trust 100 (Canada) Network of Family Owned Funeral Homes.
Ernie is a member of the Lundy's Lane United Church, an active member and Past President of the Rotary Club of Niagara Falls Canada, and was a long-time member of the Niagara Falls Curling Club.
A recipient of a Volunteer award from the City of Niagara Falls in the fall of 2006, Ernie also recently earned his CFSP designation (Certified Funeral Service Practitioner) from the Academy of Professional Funeral Service for credits earned for continuing education, as a public speaker and for community service.
He lives in Niagara Falls with his wife Susan and daughter Brittany.
