Obituary for Alfred Wegelin

WEGELIN, ALFRED “Fred” 1939 – 2022

It is with great sadness we announce the passing of our beloved Opa in his 82nd year. Predeceased by his parents, loving wife Vera and son Mike (Laura). Brothers Herman, Philip, Brother-In-Law Richard Meyer (Berta) and Sister-In-Law Suzie (Herman). Survived by son Ken (Victoria), sister Berta Meyer (Richard), brothers Adolf and Wilham in Germany, four grandchildren Christopher (Tanya), Kyle (Stephanie), Alexander (Sharyn), Aden (Lauren), three great grandchildren Colton, Layla and Keegan as well as many nieces and nephews. After immigrating to Canada from Germany at a young age, Fred worked as a master painter and later operated Mallouk’s Candy Kitchen where he and wife Vera made a variety of handmade confections. Opa was a master at this long-lost art as well. He took great pride in all that he did. During retirement he could be found in the garden that he loved so much and was so pleased with the harvests every year. There as he did in life, he taught his children and grandchildren the importance of patience and hard work. Opa loved and cherished his time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren. Rest in peace Opa. You will be greatly missed but always in our hearts.
Arrangements are entrusted to MORSE & SON FUNERAL HOME, 5917 Main St. Niagara Falls. At his request, cremation has taken place. A private family burial will take place at a later date. For those who wish, donations to the Canadian Heart and Stroke Association would be greatly appreciated by the Wegelin family. Online condolences can be shared at www.moreseandson.com
