ZORN, Anneliese (nee Rensch) - It is with great sadness that the family of Anneliese Zorn announces her passing from dementia, on Saturday, February 13, at the age of 86. Anneliese will be forever remembered by her husband Eugene and her children Irene (Rob), Klaus (Brian) and Cael and her sister Carola, in Germany. Anneliese will also be lovingly remembered by her three grandchildren, Tayler, Erik, and Nick. Anneliese will also be lovingly remembered by her numerous nieces, nephews and extended family and dear friends. She was predeceased by her mother Karla Haehre, and her brothers Detlef, Hans, Rolf, and Walter.
Anneliese was born and baptized in Sao Paulo, Brazil, on November 21, 1935. She lived a colourful early childhood with her mother and father in the Brazilian rainforest in a house on stilts. She was raised in the city of Berlin, Germany, surviving the bombing and Russian Occupation of Berlin in the mid-1940s. Being the eldest of five children, she diligently and gracefully carried responsibilities for helping raise her brothers during the war. Anneliese immigrated with her mother to Toronto, Ontario, in the mid-1950s, and settled in the High Park area. She met her husband, Eugene, at the diner her mother owned on Roncesvalles Avenue, Toronto. Eugene was a regular customer in the diner. This is how they came to know each other and fell in love. Eugene taught Anneliese to drive in High Park.
Anneliese was an elegant, fashionable, talented woman who lived life to the fullest. She was a loving and dedicated mother to her three children and an accomplished artisan. She had dressmaker-level sewing skills. She sewed clothing for her children, her husband, and even for her daughter’s barbie dolls. She was proficient at ballroom dancing, needlework, knitting, cooking, baking, gardening, and later in life, paper cutting. She enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren. Anneliese got much pleasure from the many hours she spent visiting with her granddaughter, Tayler, whom Anneliese loved very much. Anneliese’s family and friends will forever remember her kindness, compassion, melodic laugh, and loving smile. She had a smile and hug for all.
A private family interment has taken place at Fairview Cemetery. A Celebration of Anneliese’s Life will be held at the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 329 Tottenham, Ontario, in the future when Covid-19 restrictions have lifted. Arrangements entrusted to MORSE & SON FUNERAL HOME, 5917 Main Street, Niagara Falls.
