Obituary for Barbara Dianne Moore

MOORE, Barbara Dianne 1937 - 2022
After a life well lived, Barbara Dianne Moore (nee Robinson) passed away on Thursday, June 30th at the Greater Niagara General Hospital. Born in Niagara Falls, ON in October 1937, she attended Barker Street School, NFCVI, Hamilton Teachers College and completed her education at Western University in London. Barbara is predeceased by her beloved husband, Ralph Moore (2017), parents Arthur (1959) and Mary (2001) Robinson, stepchildren Ralph (Butch) Moore (2012) and Bette-Sue Woodley (2021). Barb was the beloved sister and dear friend of Judy Ross (Nick 2020), special aunt to her nephew Adam (Christine) Prest and their family, Ryan, Jenna and Brady; loving stepmother to Dan and Cheryl Moore and Lori Zonneville of Sarnia ON. For many years, Barb and Ralph, lived on a boat that he built. It was 81 feet long, had 5 bedrooms, 2-1/2 baths, full kitchen, large living room-dining room and the wheelhouse on the top deck. During the summer break Barb and Ralph sailed to Tobermory/Manitoulin Island area and docked at a spot they named, Rabar Rock. Rabar was the name of their boat – Ra (for Ralph) and bar (for Barbara). Friends from far and wide came to visit them and stayed on their boat during that time. They hiked, fished, and enjoyed the sunset and early mornings. (I remember one morning sitting on the back deck, it was very early and the lake was like glass. A fellow boater was out on the water playing a flute…an unforgettable experience. - Judy). For the rest of the year, their boat – their home – was parked near the Blue Water Bridge in Point Edward. After teaching at Bridgeview Public school for over 30 years in Point Edward, Ontario, Barb retired, but not for long. Barb joined fellow teacher and best friend, Joan Hinch. They went to live in Hong Kong and teach kindergarten for two years at an International School. They lived on the island of Lantau and hosted many visitors from Ontario throughout their stay. Barb and Joan backpacked through Russia, Asia and Europe on their summer breaks, staying in hostels and seeing the country the way the locals do. After Ralph’s death, Barbara returned to her hometown, Niagara Falls and reunited with dear friends, Wilda, Muriel and Helen from her days at NFCVI while at the same time, leaving close friends in Sarnia…Joan, Bette, Wilma, Josie and Mary.
