Obituary for Barry Raymond Kington

KINGTON, Barry Raymond - On February 24, 2021 at age 90. Cherished husband of Jacy Kington (2011) for 57 years. Loving Dad to Richard (Monica), David (Dianna), and Katherine Park (2020) (Jonathan, 1991). Much-loved Grandad to Andrew, Alexandra, Jeremiah (2019), Kathleen, Addelyn, Benjamin and Connor. Proud Great-grandad to Sam and Violet. Predeceased by his parents, Robert and Eileen. Barry was born in Chirk, Wales in 1930 and emigrated to Canada with his parents in 1948. He attended the King’s School in Chester and graduated from the University of Toronto in Chemical Engineering in 1951. Barry joined Cyanamid Canada – Welland Works in 1951 and served in a variety of management roles through to his retirement in 1988, with continuing contract work until 1993. Barry was an avid music listener and theatre organ enthusiast and enjoyed attending organ concerts, including many at the Riviera Theater in North Tonawanda. Barry was a long-time member of St. John the Evangelist (Stamford) Anglican Church where he served as People’s Warden 1970-72, Treasurer 1972-2001, administrator of the church’s Columbarium and member of the Synod of the Anglican Diocese of Niagara. In 2002, Barry was St. John’s first recipient of the Order of Niagara, conferred on him by the Diocese for his service to the parish, diocese and Church. Barry has been the central figure of his family and will be sorely missed. We want to thank the doctors, nurses and PSW staff at the Respiratory/Covid unit - St. Catharines General Hospital, the Woolcott wing - Welland Hospital and the Brock unit - GNGH for their outstanding care and compassion. Finally, we want to thank all the staff of Chapel Heights and Rose Hill Lane for the kind and loving comfort they gave Barry in his final days. Private interment of ashes at Lundy’s Lane Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate donations to the Canadian Cancer Society. Donations can be made, and condolences sent, through MORSE & SON FUNERAL HOME, 5917 Main Street, Niagara Falls, L2J 5Z7.
