Life Story for Charles Thomas Shafley

Charles Thomas Shafley
SHAFLEY Charles “Chuck” - After a long and courageous battle, Chuck’s journey is over. Chuck passed away surrounded by the love of his family Beloved husband and best friend of Lori (nee Wasylowich). Loving father of Cari (Greg) Reilly and Kelli (Trevor) Desilets. Proud “GrandChuck” of Randy Rev and Denver Reilly and proud “Papa” of Maxx and Charli Desilets. Chuck is survived by his mother Elsie Wadley, sisters Paula Ward, Nancy (Jim) Kennedy and brother Tim Shafley. Chuck was predeceased by his father, Evan Shafley (1967), his stepfather, David Wadley (2013) and brother in-law, Ray Ward (2018). Chuck was a wonderful brother-in-law to Kathy and Ron Bowman, Brian Wasylowich and Louise Jensen, Jane Doan and Drew Berketo. Chuck will be missed by his aunt, uncle cousins and many friends .He was a special uncle to many nieces and nephews, some of whom affectionally called him “Uncle Chuckles” and “Chuck-Chuck”. Chuck worked for Dana Corporation (formerly Hayes Dana) for 33 years retiring as a Division HR manager. He loved travelling, having dinner with the “old gang”, Tuesday breakfast with his Wellspring Buddies, driving his 1923 Bucket T, golfing with his Dana friends and racing horses but most of all, Chuck loved spending time with his family and friends. Chuck and Lori had a great life together! Thank you to Dr. Boily, Cindy and Maria of St. Catharines and to Dr. Ellis, Dr. Shaw, Dr. Slaven and the team at Juravinski Cancer Centre for the wonderful care they gave Chuck over the years. Thank you also to Dr. Adzich and the wonderful staff at Hospice Niagara. A very special thank you to Chuck’s nurse, Karen for her care, kindness and compassion.
A time of celebrating Chuck’s life will be held at Club Italia, 2525 Montrose Road, on Sunday May 5, 2019 from 1-4 p.m. If so desired, donations to Wellspring Niagara would be appreciated by the family. Donations may be made through the funeral home web site or Wellspring Niagara,
