Obituary for Dennis Joseph Anthony Bowers

Bowers, Dennis Joseph Anthony -
Passed away peacefully in his sleep surrounded by his loving family on Tuesday, August 2, 2022, at his home in Niagara Falls, at the age of 73. Beloved husband of Carol (Pitton) for 51 years. Devoted father of Lisa (Reuben Young), Sarah, and Andrew Bowers and dear younger brother of Doug Bowers. Fondly remembered by many dear friends, Dennis loved to laugh and make others laugh. Dennis was born September 18, 1948, to Gerald and Claire Bowers in Halifax, Nova Scotia. He entered the Carmelite Junior Seminary in Hamilton, Massachusetts in 1961, where he was a distinguished athlete and devoted friend to his classmates. He came to Mount Carmel College Seminary in Niagara Falls where he celebrated his Simple Vows in 1968. God, however, had a different plan for Dennis, that included putting an all-girls Catholic boarding school next to a seminary. He would often reminisce about falling madly in love at first sight with a young woman who was playing basketball on the court of Loretto Academy. The rest, as they say, is history. October 8, 1970 Dennis married Carol at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Niagara Falls. Dennis was an accomplished singer, songwriter and guitarist. He served as a cantor for many years at St. Thomas More and St. Patrick Churches. Dennis was an active member of many local service groups including Rotary Niagara, The Boys and Girls Club of Niagara, United Way, Wellspring Niagara, and Parish Committees. He received many awards and tributes as a result of his dedicated community service. Dennis considered his children to be his greatest achievement in life. He loved deeply and his love extended to his many pets over the years, including his dog, Maya, who was by his side until he passed. The family will receive friends at MORSE & SON FUNERAL HOME, 5917 Main Street, Niagara Falls, on Thursday from 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. A funeral mass will be celebrated by Rev. Gerard Power, O. Carm, at St. Patrick Roman Catholic Church, 4673 Victoria Avenue, on Friday, August 12, 2022 at 11 a.m. At the family’s request, face masks will be required during visitation and the funeral Cremation has taken place. As an expression of sympathy, those who wish may make an In-Memory Donation to the Walker Family Cancer Center NHF, The Rotary Club of Niagara Falls or to St. Patrick Catholic Church. When I look back
On so many years
I can’t pretend

The wondrous gift of
