Condolences

Condolence From: Carol Garrow
Condolence: My sincere condolences to the family of Donald N. Chapman. I had the pleasure of working on many of his projects.
He will be missed by many.

Condolence From: David Baxter Akitt
Condolence: On behalf of the Alan Akitt family I extend our heartfelt sympathies and condolences to you all on the passing of Donald. Don and Al were lifelong friends, from childhood days growing up in Regina to studying Architecture together at the University of Manitoba. Apparently Don's encouragement was a big influence on Dad's decision to join Don at the U of M. I think playing basketball together was part of the appeal!
It was great to see Don and Isobel at Dad's celebration of life back in 2012.
Sincerely,
Bernice (Bunny), Barbara (Hazelton), David & Elizabeth Akitt

Condolence From: Victoria and John Morley
Condolence: What a handsome photo of our friend Don. I always considered him a first class architect and person. I was fortunate to 'sit' with Don on the NOTL Heritage Committee and Urban Design. I listened, learned from him and had the greatest respect for his commentary and his wonderful sense of humour. Only Don could say what he did with such positive hilarity. I considered him the premiere architect in Niagara and a friend I enjoyed tremendously. I've missed him the last few years and always will. I was very lucky to know him. Our deepest sympathy to Isobel and family.

Condolence From: Leah Wallace
Condolence: My condolences to the Chapman family. In my time as the Heritage Planner for the Town of Niagara-on-the-Lake I came to know Don well. He was a valued, feisty and engaged member of the committee and I valued his input and his knowledge. He wasn't afraid to express his opinions and he didn't suffer fools. I missed him when he resigned. I hope he thought of me as a friend as well as a colleague. I know I thought of him that way.

Condolence From: Emilio Raimondo, Architect
Condolence: We would like to express our condolences in the hearing of the passing of Don, as a fellow colleague in the practising of Architecture; we have had great respect for Don, as a fellow practitioner and as a person; at times looking up to him as a mentor. Don exemplified a passion for life and people, was creative, was approachable and of kind character, the works his firm has produced over the years certainly speaks to his legacy. Rest In Peace, Don...

Condolence: Dear Lisa, Pat, Christopher, and Ryan,
Please accept this as a sincere message of sympathy and love. You will miss your father, father-in-law, and grandfather, but I hope many happy memories will ease the grief. I never had the pleasure of meeting him, but over my 20 years of friendship with your family, I feel like I knew the extraordinary man. Even though we now live on the East Coast, I hope you can feel our support. xo Dawn & Cam

Condolence From: Frank Leslie
Condolence: Dear Isobel and Family
Over the years I enjoyed many times in Don’s company, both in a business context and elsewhere. I recall his unique laugh and smile. His projects clearly showed his rich imagination.

Both my wife Sandy and I send our condolences.
