Obituary for Elizabeth Anne "Liz" Flynn (McCarthy)

FLYNN, Elizabeth Anne “Liz” (McCarthy) – Peacefully, surrounded by her family, on Thursday November 17, 2022, at the St. Catharines General Hospital, at the age of 81. Beloved wife for 63 years of David; Loving mother of Terry, Peter (Brenda) and Chandra (Kevin Cripps); Dear gramma of Kristin, Sydney and Nathan; step gramma of Kayla and Jake Cripps, and Kayla and Alexis Moore. Step GG of Jesse and Luca. Big sister of Daniel (Marlene) McCarthy; Aunt of Mark McCarthy. Sister-in-law and Aunt to many on the Flynn side of the family.

Born and raised in Niagara-on-the-Lake, Liz married Dave in 1959. A member of St. Vincent de Paul Church, Liz was a highly respected and dedicated member of the leadership teams at Pillar & Post, where she hosted the Queen’s dinner in 1973, as well as Reese’s Country Inn, The Parkway Inn, Queen’s Landing and Kittling Ridge Winery Inn.
Liz was involved in Cub Scouts, being an Akela to many kids and she was also a leader for the Hy-Y, being a mentor to numerous teenage girls. Liz and Dave were the founders of the NOTL Tennis Club.
Liz happily left work at the age of 65 to be a full-time grandmother.
Dave and Liz moved to Niagara Falls in 1983, where they have resided since. Their home on Riall Street is well known for its fabulous Halloween and Christmas light display each year.

Liz will be at the MORSE & SON FUNERAL HOME, 5917 Main Street, Niagara Falls, from 2-4 & 6-8 on Monday, November 21st and at the Morgan Funeral Home, 415 Regent St., Niagara-on-the-Lake from 2-4 & 6-8 on Tuesday, November 22nd. Vigil prayers at the Morse & Son Funeral Home on Monday afternoon at 2 o’clock. Funeral mass will be celebrated at St. Vincent de Paul Church, 73 Picton St, Niagara-on-the-Lake, on Wednesday morning, November 23rd at 10 o’clock. For those who are not able to attend in person can view at www.facebook.com/morseandson. Rite of Committal will follow at St. Vincent de Paul Cemetery, Niagara-on-the-Lake. As an expression of sympathy, those who wish may bring an unwrapped child’s gift to go to children’s charities in Niagara, to brighten their Christmas.
