Obituary for Elsie Gertrude Bessey (Bodner)
BESSEY, Elsie Gertrude (Bodner) –
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Elsie on Friday, November 22, 2019 at her home, at the age of 93 surrounded by her loving family. God has recalled one of his angels. Beloved wife of the late Donald Arthur Bessey (2003). Devoted mother of Crystal, Don and Darlene Knox (Mike). Adored grandmother of Rachel Welz (Kevin), Alexandra Knox and Ryan, Scott and Marc Bessey. Dear sister of Freda Olm, and Eric Bodner (Margaret). Fondly remembered by many nieces, nephews, cousins, friends and her beloved cat Patty. Predeceased by sisters Dorothy Brennan, Margaret Lampman and Alice Bodner, and brothers William Bodner, and Walter Bodner.
Elsie was a long and devoted member of Our Saviour Lutheran Church, volunteer at Big Sisters and a coach of Special Olympics. A special thanks to Dr. Alison MacTavish, the LHIN and palliative care nurses.
The family will receive friends at MORSE & SON FUNERAL HOME, 5917 Main St., Niagara Falls, ON, on Tuesday, November 26 from 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. A service to commemorate the life of Elsie, will be held at Our Savior Lutheran Church, 7081 McLeod Rd., on Wednesday, November 27 at 11 a.m. Burial and reception to follow at Pleasantview Memorial Gardens Fonthill. As an expression of sympathy, memorial donations to either the Niagara Support Services or to Our Saviour Lutheran Church Memorial Fund would be appreciated by the family.
