Obituary for G. Bruce Cooper

Bruce Cooper, a life-long resident of Niagara Falls, passed away at Greater Niagara General Hospital on Tuesday, December 22, age 94.

Bruce was predeceased by his wife of 67 years, Bessie, and his brother Clarence Cooper. He is survived by his children Robert (Bob) Cooper of St. Catharines and Colleen Cooper of Coddlesville, NL, as well as two grandchildren, Amy and Michelle and three great grandchildren. Bruce is also survived by his brother-in-law Robert (Bob) Brown. Beloved friend of Helen O’Donoghue and Janice and Ernie Hein.

An accomplished mechanic Bruce spent the last 15 years of his career working on the fleet of Maid of the Mist boats. He loved all things related to aviation, earned his pilot’s licence as a young man, was a member of the St. Catharines Flying Club and spent many enjoyable hours at the Niagara District Airport. Stamford Lions Club was his primary social diversion - he was a member for more than 40 years. In fact, he became the chef preparing meals for the weekly meeting of Stamford Lioness during his retirement. Bruce enjoyed travel all through his life, a highlight being a Disney Cruise that he booked at age 91.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be directed to the Niagara Health System Foundation, GNGH Site, in his memory. According to Bruce’s wishes there will be no visitation. A private burial service will follow. Memories, photos and condolences may be shared at www.morseandson.com
