Condolences

Condolence From: mark ravelle
Condolence: I just read tonight the passing of Mr. Miethig. He taught me so much about life, education and respect during my three years at Niagara College in the early 80's. Without any doubt, he influenced my life and I can truly say that the person I turned out in my life & work world after 40 years was due to his wisdom, knowledge and dedication to his students. His work ethics, which I all respected and used in my career, were tough but so valuable. RIP Sir, you have always had and will always have my total respect and gratitude. :(

Condolence: I just heard of the passing of Hans Miethig. He was one of the most dedicated teachers I ever had the privilege to learn from. It's impossible to put into words exactly what an influence he had in shaping me into the person I am today. He will be missed by many. RIP

Condolence: I was honoured to share the same Voyageur hallway at Niagara College with Mr. Miethig (as I always referred to him) even though he told me many times, to call him Hans. He often stopped into our office sporting his broad smile and always with kind words. Even after his retirement, he made time to say hello whether visiting or when calling into the college. My condolences to his family. Time will heal the hurt in your hearts and may your fond memories make you smile, as broad as his.

Condolence From: Bea and John Clark
Condolence: John and I offer our sincere condolences. We had the privilege of working with Hans at Niagara College. He was a dedicated teacher who was determined to make his program the best. We often encounter former students who speak so highly of him and express their gratitude for the knowledge and lessons that he shared. Hans was an active member of the Niagara College Retirees Association, enjoying the luncheons with his fellow retirees. He will be missed.

Condolence: I was privileged to know Hans through my teaching in the Construction Engineering Technology Program. Hans’ dedication and focus were unparalleled. His expectation of the students was high. I recall his addressing a first-year group at orientation, advising them to put romantic relationships on hold for three years; the workload would be daunting!
Hans created a program highly regarded for the quality of its graduates. In addition, he had a deep caring for his students; he was always generous with his time.
Hans was not only a colleague but also a friend. My life was enriched by knowing him. My condolences to his family. God be with you all ... and bless you.

Condolence: There is and was no better person to take someone out of high school and narrow their focus into a future career. How many people owe him for the time and passion he put into the Construction Engineering Technology course at Niagara College. I feel sorry for current students that they will never experience that kind of devotion from a teacher. I had the pleasure to reconnect 7 tears ago and of course I heard him before I saw him. He was an amazing presence for so many of us students. My sincere condolences to his family but you were blessed with his life. Class of 1976

Condolence: One of the best I ever had the pleasure of working with. I had just started at Niagara College. We got off to a bit of a rocky start after I threatened to clean up his messy store room and he threatened to punch me in the nose. Afterward we got to know each other better and had many interesting and pleasant conversations. Hans held everyone to a high standard and himself to the highest. I will always remember him. He was one of the best!

Condolence: It was a pleasure to work with Hans in the
Construction Technology program at Niagara.

Truly passionate about the students and what
they were asked to learn. He worried about what
the students were asked to learn, was it going to
be what they needed to know ? He demanded much
from himself; the students knowing he really cared
for their success.

Condolence: Our sincerest condolences. I met Hans when he and my mother, Erna Jahnke, worked together at Acres. As fellow Germans, they had a lot in common and maintained their friendship over the years. I met up with Hans again when I worked at Niagara College. He was passionate about his craft and through his life experiences, he was able to bring so much more to the “drafting table”. He was exacting and demanding so that his students would be successful. He cared deeply about his life’s work and it showed.
Maches gut, Hans. Aufwiedersehen
