SMITH, Harvey Malcolm- With his children by his side, sadly we said goodbye to our father, grandfather, great grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend, Harvey Smith.
The eldest son of William and Gertrude Smith, he was born Dec 26th 1937 in Montreal, QC. Dad grew up in Dorval, and spent winters playing hockey and enjoying summer holidays with his parents and 3 brothers at Brilliant Cove, QC.
After graduating from Lachine High School, Harvey left home to join the United States Air Force at 18, learning the skills of a jet aircraft mechanic. He eventually expanded his skills to become a millwright. In 1959, Harvey met and married the mother of his first three children: Patricia (Bill) Mullin of Ridgeway ON, Brayden (Colleen) Smith of Welland ON, and Pamela (Kevin) Rouire of Wpg MB. Harvey was a hardworking man, always busy working side jobs as well. After divorcing, Harvey met, and married, the late Angela Smith (nee Deeks) who sadly passed away in 2013. With Angie’s two sons Jamie (Cheryl) Bredin, and Derek (Jenn) Bredin, they had a blended family. Harvey worked at Wire Weaving, then ES Fox Ltd; at several plants as a millwright and foreman, up until his retirement in 1996. Harvey was an avid hunter, who also loved to fish. Dad always had many experiences and stories to share with family and friends.
Sadly, in 2020, Harvey was diagnosed with Melanoma, but that didn’t stop him from finding bargains, and meeting on a regular basis with the usual gang for coffee at Tim’s or at Williams coffee shop every week. Harvey will be missed by his 5 children and their families, his brothers, and too many friends to mention.
You were very strong Dad, and we're happy that your children were there with you to say goodbye.
As per Dad's wishes immediate cremation has taken place and there will not be a service.
