Obituary for Iona Ethel Morocco (Shaw)

MOROCCO, Iona Ethel (nee Shaw)– Iona Morocco passed away peacefully at the age of 92 (or 29, as she would say) on Tuesday, March 2, 2023. Wife of the late Anthony (Ruff) Morocco for 52 years. Loving and proud mother to her two late sons, Tony (Terry), Jim (Linda), and two surviving sons Glenn (Sheila), and John (Joyce). A wonderful grandmother to Karlisle (Dan), Lisa, Elyse (Richard), Clinton, Christopher (Amy), Michael (Sarah), Lauren (James), Jason, and Big Big Gram to Lucia, Gabriel, Sophia, Tamiya, Takeir, and Matty. Sister-in-law of Bernice, Rita, Marion, and Ange. Fondly remembered by many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Predeceased by parents Rose & Clifford Shaw, sister Eilieen, and brothers Harold, (Enid), Eric, Garnet (Sue) and Bernard. Iona was a true force of nature. She is remembered as a warm hearted caregiver who took care of everyone around her. To all who knew her she was a beacon of strength and light. After a long career at Zippo, she spent her retirement years volunteering at Dorchester Manor spending time with loved ones and complaining about the season the Jays were having--every season. In her words, she “had a good run,” and “passes the torch” to the surviving family. The family is grateful for the care provided by GNGH physicians and nursing staff, especially in the Trillium Unit. It would be greatly appreciated that any donations made in her name, be made to Tender Wishes Foundation. As per her wishes, cremation has taken place and a celebration of life will be held at a later date (time to be announced). Memories, photos and condolences may be shared at www.morseandson.com

I Bequeath
I leave you faith for the future;
Hope for every new dawn;
Joy for every tomorrow
And courage to carry on;
Love that will last forever;
A heart to do the right;
Dreams that leave you never;
Laughter, sunny and bright;
Eyes to behold life's beauty;
Ears to hear mirth and song;
Hands to ease the weary
And feet to flee from wrong.
I leave you cheer to give the discouraged;
Happiness to spread everywhere;
Kind hands to sustain you,
And protection of God's loving care.
