Life Story for Ivan Jon House

Ivan Jon House
HOUSE, Ivan Jon -
Celebrating Ivan Jon House his colourful life well lived.
Ivan Jon House is love personified.
How many pet stores can you go to (Woof ‘N Mew) and get a hug any time, or your flat tire changed out for your spare?
Or how many business owners will come and fix your toilet?
Or how many will come and purchase and install special locks in your house so your Mom with dementia will not wander away any more?
Ivan did. Ivan is the personification of kindness and service to his fellow human being.
He had the ability to make so many people so happy and so comfortable that they could give themselves permission to be themselves.
Looking at him you would know he loved tie dye.
Looking at him you would know he loved pot.
Looking at him you would know he liked patchouli and essential oils.
Looking at him you would not know he could sing like Pavarotti, Elvis and Sinatra, living with him was like living with a jukebox. He sang with the San Antonio Master singers.
Looking at him you would not know he was a fantastic guitar player who enjoyed the Kerrville Folk Festival and played and sang at many weddings and events for friends.
Looking at him you would not know he was a chemist who ran the plating shop for an aircraft manufacturer.
Looking at him you would not know he worked in a university lab on an anti-aging study and that after that job, because of having had to kill so many rats for the research he had a pet rat that he kept for its whole natural life which he gave anything it wanted even though it bit him every day just to make up for it.
Looking at him you would not know he was an excellent phlebotomist who was even called on once to draw blood one day returning to the hospital as a plumber. Imagine the look of surprise on the face of that patient!
Looking at him you would not know he was a mechanic who could fix anything including toasters, automobiles, refrigerators, and heating/air conditioner units.
Looking at him you would not know he was an artist who made beautiful stained-glass pieces, kaleidoscopes and jewelry boxes which still delight and commissioned pieces like front doors for houses and a skyline scene of San Antonio which is still the window of a store today.
Looking at him you would not know he was an 8-year IV drug user who was able to kick the habit and support and inspire others to kick theirs.
Looking at him you would not know he had a brilliant intellect and was very well read on so many subjects he earned the nickname “Mr. Google”.
Looking at him you would not know he was interested in the stock market from a young age and had the ability to pick likely winners. He advised his Dad that Walmart would be a good stock to get into back in the ‘80’s. His Dad did not hear his advice but I am glad I did when he said we should invest in Cannabis in 2015. He set us up for life.
In the dictionary under man of many talents Ivan’s photo would be a perfect fit.
He did not suffer fools gladly and called out people directly when they were silly, just as he recognized, admitted and endeavored to fix and learn from his own mistakes.
Ivan was his own person and did not really join clubs and organizations but he lived his life with focus and the intention of serving others and making the world a better, more accepting and kinder place. Because that was his intention, that was his achievement.
He was discerning and did not take things at face value, rules had to be reasonable and he did not follow the ones that did not serve.
He is a mystic, a healer, a knowledge seeker and a wisdom keeper. He walks in both worlds, down to earth and esoteric, as he was fond of saying, “Two things can be true at the same time”
The world needs more people like Ivan Jon House.
I am privileged to know him and our adventure together continues. I used to call him my magic man now he is more magic.

Beloved husband of Deanna for 15 years. Dearly loved father of Nick, Rex and Shiloh (Dave) Koski. Cherished grandfather of Jordan. Dear brother of Eric (Teresa). Predeceased by his parents Jerry and Patricia and his sister Baby Kimberley.
