Obituary for James Moses McArthur

James Moses McArthur, in his 88th year, passed during his nap on Christmas Day, 2022. The devoted and loving husband to Esther (McRae), predeceasing him, 20 years ago, January 7, 2003. Jim was born in Orillia, a place he held dearly in his heart, always sharing his love for the town, and the family that resides there to this day. He was one of 12 children of the late Clifford & Elizabeth (Nelson) McArthur. Jim retired from Nabisco (Kraft) Brands; he took great pride in his work and as an active Union member. Jim worked as a bartender/waiter for many years, known as ‘Sugarfoot,’ in the industry, as he was amazing at what he did. As a young man, he worked for several years at the Drake Hotel and the Brown Derby in Hamilton. He began his server career at Sheraton Brock hotel. He loved to share stories about his work there as a young teen and taking a sandwich to ‘Marilyn Monroe’. He was still sharing those stories during his illness with the amazing and dedicated staff at Meadows of Dorchester.
Jim is the loving father of: Becky & Ric Saccone, Jim & Tammy McArthur, Carol & Bill Bell, David McArthur, Stephen & Sandy McArthur.

Jim is survived by brothers & sisters: Lillian Stevens, Shirley McArthur, Collee & Jane McArthur, Linda McArthur, Dalton & Diane McArthur; Roger Cote, Marjory White, Becky Butler, Michael McArthur. Predeceased by brothers and sisters: Bill Stevens, Clifford & Shirley McArthur; Manley McArthur, Donny & Barb McArthur, Leonard McArthur, Barbara Cote, Peter White, Glen Butler, Eloise McArthur, Gifford & Joan McRae, Hircey & Betty McRae, John McRae. An Uncle and Great Uncle to many nieces & nephews from coast to coast.
Cremation has taken place, and a private service will be held in the future. Arrangements entrusted to Morse & Son Funeral Home.
