Obituary for James Arthur McCutchen

McCUTCHEN, James Arthur – 1934 – 2020. Passed away peacefully in his 87th year at the Greater Niagara General Hospital on Saturday December 26, 2020.
He was the loving husband for 57 years to Verna McCutchen (Joyner). Dear father to Jennifer (Adrian) Dywan. Cherished Papa to Nolan James and Grand Puppy Snickers. He leaves behind Sister Judith (Don) Snarey, Sister-in-law Anne McCutchen and many nieces and nephews. He is pre-deceased by his parents Helen and John McCutchen, his In-Laws Violet and Stewart Joyner, his brother Jack and Canine buddies Taffy and Chloe. Jim joined the Ontario Provincial Police in 1958. Stationed in Smithville, five summers in Crystal Beach 1958 - 1962, Niagara Falls and promoted to Corporal and transferred to Brantford. He was a member of the O.P.P. Golden Helmets motorcycle team, performing at many venues, as far away as New York City in Celebration of Canada Day in 1967. In 1981 he was hired as Operations Director with the Ontario Provincial Police Association in Barrie until his retirement in 1989. He was Secretary of Coronation Lodge in Smithville for several years. After retirement he enjoyed his summer place in Pt. Severn boating and fishing in the Muskoka's and travelling to Mexico and several Caribbean Islands in the winter. In 2006 moved back to Niagara Falls close to family and friends. He will be sadly missed by his family and many friends and neighbours. The family wishes to thank the Doctors, Nurses and staff at Greater Niagara General for their exemplary care, kindness and respect during his time there, and also the friends and neighbours for their ongoing support, kind words and prayers. Due to the Pandemic restrictions no visitation, an invitation-only service will take place with Internment at Lundy's Lane Cemetery. Arrangements entrusted to MORSE & SON FUNERAL HOME, 5917 Main Street, Niagara Falls. As an expression of sympathy, those who wish may make a memorial donation to Hospice Niagara, Niagara Humane Society or charity of one's choice.
