Obituary for John Pineo

PINEO, John – July 30, 1939 – April 7, 2023

It is with great regret and sorrow, we announce the passing of John Wallace Pineo at St. Catharines General Hospital on Friday April 7, 2023, at the age of 83. John was a kind, loyal and loving husband of Maureen (nee McKeag) for 56 years. Treasured father of Joanne (John) St. George of Lakeview, NY. He will be greatly missed by his twin sister Connie (Jim) Hanvey of Orangeville, brother Larry “Ace” Pineo of Niagara Falls. Brother in-law of Marvin (Sandy) McKeag, Heather (Al) Leake and Colleen (Don) Calaguiro. He will be missed by his horse racing pal Ken Riddell. Fondly remembered by many nieces, nephews, and extended family.

Over the course of 40 years, John worked his way to production manager at the Norton Company (Saint Gobain) in Chippawa and derived great satisfaction from his work and camaraderie with colleagues. He was a strong advocate of positive thinking throughout his life, and he lived with creativity, enthusiasm, and passion. In John’s spare time he enjoyed gardening, fishing, horse racing, family gatherings, DIY home improvements, Katie (his four-legged friend) and his newest acquisition, a red Ford Mustang convertible. All these gave him inspiration, drive, purpose and zest in his retirement.

His family would like to thank the medical teams at GNGH, Hotel Dieu Shaver and St. Catharines Hospital for their care. A Heartfelt thanks goes out to his PSW Jomy, Nurses Maryanne & Sam and his friend Shirley for their compassionate in-home care.

As per John’s wishes, cremation has taken place. A private family service will take place at a later date. Arrangements entrusted to MORSE & SON FUNERAL HOME, 5917 Main Street, Niagara Falls. In lieu of flowers and in memory of John, give your most valuable gift, one-on-one time with those you love. They will appreciate your attention and interest in their adventures, past-times, and stories. Rest in peace John. You will be forever in our hearts.
