Obituary for John Edward Randle
RANDLE, John Edward- Peacefully, on February 28, 2021 at The Meadows of Dorchester in his 91st year. Cherished husband of Donna for 63 years. Loving father of Bryan, Laurel Randle and Deb (late Michael) Vukelich. Proud grandfather of Liz Randle (Nate Oliver) and Sam Vukelich. John will also be missed by his extended family and friends.
John had a long and successful career with the Federal Public Service, working for Revenue Canada Customs and Excise in Oshawa, Ottawa, Windsor, Niagara Falls and Fort Erie, retiring in 1988.
After retirement, John and Donna travelled extensively, touring on their own and then joining group tours that took them around the world. At home, John enjoyed spending time with his family, and thoroughly adored being a grandfather and doting on his young granddaughters. For years, John and Donna frequented a variety of local pubs and restaurants on their Friday night date nights, often inviting their children and granddaughters to join in the fun.
John was a long time member of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 51, the Niagara Falls Curling Club, Rolling Meadows Golf and Country Club and played in a few bridge clubs. Those who knew him well will remember his sense of humour and dry wit.
The family cannot express enough gratitude to all of the staff, nurses, doctors, recreational personnel, and personal support workers at The Meadows of Dorchester for the kindness, compassion and care that they have shown John, and all of us. This past year has been difficult for so many, and the staff has gone above and beyond to keep us connected with phone calls and FaceTime calls. We knew that dad was in good hands and getting great care. Thank you so much.
In accordance with John’s wishes, cremation has taken place and a private family memorial service will be held at the funeral home. For those who wish, memorial donations may be made to the Alzheimer Society.
