SMITH, Joy Marie (nee Byrnes)
July 28, 1939, to March 14, 2023
After a long and courageous battle with cancer and heart disease, Joy Marie passed away peacefully surrounded by her family, in her 83rd year. Loved and sadly missed by her children, Tracey Smith and Reg (Anna Marie) Smith. Beloved grandmother to Anthony, Angela, Andrea, Clarke, Megan and Matthew. Great-grandmother to Amaya, Ella, Benny and Silas. Special aunt to Marie (Mike) Gravelle and special friend to Edna Marsh and Joan Fisher. Also survived by several nieces and nephews. Predeceased by her parents Alfred and Ethel Byrnes, brothers, Leo (Norma) and Reg (Edie).
In keeping with her wishes, cremation has taken place. Arrangements entrusted to Morse and Son Funeral Home, 5917 Main Street, Niagara Falls. The family would like to thank the doctors, nurses and staff of the Palliative Care Unit at GNGH for their care and comfort to Mom. In lieu of flowers, those who wish may make a memorial donation to Niagara Health Foundation – Walker Family Cancer Centre.
