Obituary for Jytte Cherrie

CHERRIE, Jytte - It is with great sorrow, the family of Jytte Cherrie announces her passing on Monday April 18th 2022. Devoted wife to the late David Cherrie (2021). Loving mother of Cindy Fleming and Craig Cherrie (Karen). Proud grandmother to Amanda and Alex Fleming (Mandi). Beloved great grandmother to McKenna, Kaylee and Karson.
Jytte will be sadly missed by her brother Skip (Lillian) Eskildsen, sister Helen Burns and brother-in-law Paul (Cathy) Cherrie. She leaves behind her dear friend Lis Constantinides. She is predeceased by her parents Erik and Lilian Eskildsen, sister Annie, brother-in-law Stuart Cherrie and sister-in-law Jan Cherrie.
Jytte loved entertaining and introducing friends and extended family to traditional Danish Smorgasbord. Born in Copenhagen Denmark, Jytte came to Canada in 1951. She met David while working as a proof reader at the Niagara Falls Review. For over thirty years, Jytte was the children’s librarian at the Chippawa Branch Library and was known as Mrs. Cherrie to generations of children in the community for her “Story Hour” and teaching arts and crafts.
Upon her retirement, Jytte and David spent their winters in Florida and later discovered their love for Clipper Ship cruising.
Cremation has taken place. Arrangements entrusted to MORSE & SON FUNERAL HOME, 5917 Main Street, Niagara Falls. Jytte`s final resting place will be at Sunset Villa Memorial Garden.
