Obituary for Louise Marie Griffiths (Durbin)

Louise Marie Griffiths (Durbin)
Griffiths, Louise Marie (nee Durbin) October 1st 1971 – June 6th 2020. Louise lost her courageous battle with cancer on June 6th, supported by her husband, Russell and her Mum, Lynn. Louise was born in Wells, Somerset, UK and spent her childhood in Cheddar, Somerset. She then went to work for Friends Provident in Bristol in 1988 before transferring to their International business in Salisbury, Wiltshire in 1991. It was in Salisbury where Louise met her future husband Russell in 2000. They moved to Bolton, Lancashire in 2003, where she worked for Shop Direct as a Sales Manager, becoming a Business Analyst with the same company in 2008. Louise and Russell enjoyed great holidays in Massachusetts, Gettysburg, Vancouver, Maine and the Niagara Falls region. During these trips they began to discuss the possibility of moving and living in North America. Louise and Russell were married in August 2010, after which they enjoyed a special honeymoon trip to the United States, driving from Las Vegas to San Francisco. They were granted permanent residence status in Canada and they moved to the Niagara region in 2012. Louise started work at Jackson-Triggs winery, where she learned a lot about wine and made many friends. One of Louise’s many passions was reading and in 2013 Louise started work for Indigo as a General Manager in Niagara Falls, moving to the Lime Ridge store in 2017. At Indigo Louise was able to share her great love of books with her many customers. In 2018 she landed her dream job as Retail Store Manager at Book Outlet in St. Catharines. Louise also enjoyed live music and over the years went to see many of her favourite bands perform. Tennis was also a passion for Louise and she enjoyed going to Wimbledon several times and, after her move to Canada, going to Toronto and Montreal. Sadly, Louise was diagnosed with cancer in October 2018 and underwent chemotherapy every two weeks for 18 months. She was still able to enjoy holidays in Florida, Algonquin and Texas. Louise also had the opportunity to travel back to Cheddar to see her family and friends.
As well as her husband and Mum, Louise is survived by her brother, Paul, her niece, Shannon, along with her aunts, uncles and cousins in the UK.
Cremation has taken place. For those who wish, memorial donations may be made to Wellspring Niagara.
