Obituary for Naomi Nemeth

NEMETH, Naomi - It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of our mother, Naomi Nemeth on Tuesday February 7, 2023 in Niagara Falls, Ontario. Naomi was born in Abercynon, Wales on February 6, 1925 and came to Canada in 1929 with her parents, John and Martha Jones and her elder brother, Harold. Her family spent several years in Bosman, Manitoba before coming to the Niagara Falls area in the late 1930s, where Naomi subsequently met and married Zoltan Nemeth (deceased 2011) in 1943. Over the next 18 years, Naomi and Zoltan had three children (Robert, Steven, and Naomi Louise Nemeth). During that time, Naomi was active in Scouts Canada, 4H, the Women's Institute in Niagara Falls and other community groups. In the early 1960s, Naomi was very active in the Women's Institute campaign for signatures to support a university in the Niagara area and very proud, many years later, to have Steven, Naomi and Zoltan (in his retirement years) graduate from Brock University.
Naomi and Zoltan spent five years in the United States, moving as Zoltan's work required, making a host of good friends, and exploring both cities and beautiful remote places along the way. In their retirement years, they traveled extensively in the US, Europe, and North Africa. Over the past 6 years, Naomi made many good friends at River Road Retirement residence in Niagara Falls, thoroughly enjoying her time there. We thank the staff of River Road for all the love and attention they gave our mother. We would also like to thank the staff at the Niagara Falls General Hospital for their gentle loving care and compassion.
Naomi leaves behind her three children, Robert (Invermere, BC), Steven (Bancroft, Ontario) and Naomi Louise (Oakville, Ontario), four grandchildren and nine great grandchildren. Cremation has taken place. A celebration of her life will be held in Niagara Falls at a later date. Arrangements entrusted to MORSE & SON FUNERAL HOME, 5917 Main Street, Niagara Falls.
