McGUIRE, Shirley Margaret (nee MacWhirter) – passed away peacefully with her loving family by her side at Greater Niagara General Hospital on Friday May 12, 2023, at the age of 91. Beloved mother of Joanne Hoto (Dave) and Brian McGuire (Laura Hisson). Cherished grandmother of Andrew Hoto (Paloma), Nicholas Hoto (Nicole Denis) and Michael McGuire. Dear sister of Gerald MacWhirter (Jackie) and the late Calvin MacWhirter (Bev). Caring sister- in-law of Willis, Faye, Melvin, Marilyn and Phil McGuire and Margie Anez. Predeceased by brothers-in-law Lyall and Roderick McGuire and Robert Sullivan; and sisters-in-law Olive, Brenda, and Joan McGuire, Norma MacWhirter and Betty Sullivan. She will be fondly remembered by many nieces, nephews, friends, and her former spouse Elwyn James McGuire.
Shirley’s family would like to thank the PSWs from the March of Dimes for the wonderful care they provided to her while at home and to the staff at Upper Canada Lodge. And lastly, a heartfelt thank you to the doctors, nurses and staff at GNGH.
In keeping with Shirley’s wishes, a private family service has taken place with an interment at Fairview Cemetery. Arrangements entrusted to Morse & Son Funeral Home, 5917 Main Street, Niagara Falls.
