Obituary for Wayne Curtis Mayers

MAYERS, Wayne Curtis –
With Deep sadness, regretfully his family announces the sudden passing of Wayne in the morning of Thursday, March 17, 2022, at the Greater Niagara General Hospital, at the age of 73. Beloved husband of Linda (nee Stewart) for 50 years.
Devoted father of Geoffrey (Violetta) and Janet Flikkema (Michael). Adored grandfather of Jaden, Joshua, Domenik and Elianna Mayers, Hayley, Ethan, and Brinley Flikkema. Dear brother of Carole Bowes (Richard). Brother-in-law of Mary Grady (late Ayton), Barbara Bretzloff (Raymond), Michael Stewart (Heather) and the late Margaret Valeri. Fondly remembered by many nieces, nephews, clients and friends.

Wayne owned and operated his own landscaping business for 42 years, serving the communities of the Niagara Region until retiring in 2014. He had a vast passion and knowledge of horticulture and was an avid gardener, took pleasure in being outdoors, and enjoyed the company of animals. He loved singing, dancing, bowling, curling, and “attempted” to play pool and darts. He also enjoyed watching his favourite sports teams, HGTV, and history/geography/nature programs on television.

Private family arrangements in care of Morse & Son Funeral Home. Cremation has already taken place and the burial to follow at a later date in St. Davids-Queenston United Church Cemetery. For those who wish to honour Wayne, they can choose to make a memorial donation to either Autism Ontario or Canadian Cancer Society. Both organizations have been important in Wayne’s life, and close to his heart. Memories, photos and condolences may be shared at www.morseandson.com
