Obituary for Wayne Ronald Mitchell

MITCHELL, Wayne Ronald

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the unexpected passing of Wayne, on June 20th 2023, at his home in Niagara Falls, in his 70th year.
Beloved husband of Cynthia for 40 years. Loving father of Kyle (Serena), and Katelyn (Richard). Dear Papa to Lillian and Nolan. Loving son of the late Ronald (d.2000), and Thelma (d.2013). Wayne will be fondly remembered by many friends and family. He will be remembered for his Canadian National Railways career as a Locomotive Engineer and the lifelong friends he made. He enjoyed spending his time indulging in a good computer game and spending his summers at Red Cedar Lake fishing with his family creating everlasting memories. In his earlier years he could be found at the Legion playing slow-pitch with the boys or playing a friendly game of chess at Donut Diner. He had a fondness for hockey. His love for the Toronto Maple Leafs and the Niagara Falls Thunder grew into a lifelong passion, which he shared with his father and son. He would attend the Junior B, Canucks games regularly, and frequently brought his children to attend the games as well. The Leafs will win the Stanley Cup again for you, Dad! Go Leafs Go!!
As per Wayne’s wishes cremation has taken place, arrangements entrusted to Morse and Son Funeral Home. As an expression of sympathy, those who wish may make a memorial donation to SickKids Foundation in honour of his grandson, or a charity of their choosing. This gesture would be greatly appreciated by Wayne’s family.
