Obituary for William Evan MacDonald

MacDONALD, William - The sports world lost one of its most valuable fans, Billy Mac on Monday July 11, 2022. Not sure if there was a sport he did not love, certainly some more than others. There were sports he participated in and others he was a true fan. Mac’s work life consisted of firefighting, with the City of Niagara Falls, retiring as a captain after 30 years. However, his true love, other than Mollie, of course, was sports. For many years he participated in summer baseball teams like the Gators and the Blues Brothers and winter hockey teams like Niagara South Old Timers and Customs. Then, he discovered golf. He became an avid golfer but really, he became, as in all his sports, an after the game warrior. Mac and Mollie had great trouble passing a watering hole where they could catch up with friends and have a cold one. They spent winters in Deland, Florida, where they continued their love of sports, friends, and bars. If you are catching a theme here, my work is done. Fun, friends and sports made up the majority of Mac’s life. His love of history and late-night TV was infamous, but his love of sleeping was gold medal worthy. Predeceased by his father George and his mother Kay. He is survived by his sisters Jean Morris and Bernice Primo. Billy Mac will be forever missed by his wife, and lifelong pal, Mollie. He will be remembered by Mollie’s family Lynn Molloy, Peggy (Paul) Tyers, Dan (Deb) Molloy and Mike (Cathy) Molloy. Dear Uncle to Brad, Brett, Matt, Brooks, Chris, Sarah, Forest, Haley, Drew, Ethan, Aiden, Ryan, Steph, Matt, Stewy, John, Steph, Daniel and Elizabeth. He will be fondly remembered by some lifelong and great friends. Mac’s sudden passing has created a large void in everyone’s life and he will be sorely missed. Mac’s family will receive friends at MORSE & SON FUNERAL HOME, 5917 Main Street, Niagara Falls on Monday July 18, 2022 from 3 to 5 pm. A celebration of his life will follow at the Chippawa Legion, 3860 Legion Street, Chippawa until 7 pm to celebrate a life well lived. Everyone is encouraged to please attend in comfortable attire. In lieu of flowers, those who wish may make a memorial donation to Ronald MacDonald House or Canadian Tire Jump Start. Memories, photos and condolences may be shared at www.morseandson.com
