Condolence: “Aunt” Wilma will be sadly missed. I have known Aunt Wilma since my birth 62 years ago. I was the first baby to a group of friends who worked at Ontario Psych hospital in Hamilton Ontario. I was fortunate to have Aunt Wilma as one of my ‘other’ mothers. She taught me compassion and understanding. Aunt Wilma always had good words of wisdom to share and was extremely caring and loving.

Condolence: To the Morrison Family,

So sorry to hear about Wilma's passing. We met Wilma purely by accident, by sharing the same name. A happy accident. My husbands name is Willie Morrison. We always received Wilma's phone calls and mail. We also lived about two blocks away from Wilma. So we redirected her phone calls and dropped off her mail. She was always so grateful. She was a wonderful women, we were blessed to have known her. In the past couple of years we would see her often as my Mom lived in the same Retirement home as Wilma. Such a remarkable women. She will be greatly missed. Our thoughts are with you at this sad time.

Condolence: I am so sorry to learn of your loss. I met Wilma when I was an undergraduate working on a project on the Black experience in St. Catharines many years ago and I never forgot her. She was so helpful and inspiring to me. I have gone on to an academic career but I have always followed her work from afar (and often run into people who knew her) and have always been so grateful for all the work that she has done on preserving Black Canadian history in the Niagara region. She was such a small lady, but she leaves behind such a large -- and wonderful -- legacy, as well as a responsibility to continue her work.

Condolence: I got to know Wilma when I visited my own mother at the retirement home. She was a remarkable woman. Her wit and humor were evident from the beginning and she displayed a quiet and beautiful strength. I will dearly miss our chats and I will never forget her.

Condolence: Our Dear sweet Wilma who I learned so much from as we worked together at public health. Wilma was kind and caring woman who worked and fought hard for what was right. I always appreciated her kindness in my moms later years when we would be out for a walk from Nimygon. I was always in awe of all Wilmas achievements and was so proud to see her at the premiere of the movie about her life. Grateful to have called her my friend. Rest In Peace Wilma with your beloved Lorne sincerely Jo-Ann Rufrano-Sacco

Condolence: I was a neighbour of Wilma and Lorne's back in the l980's and have fond memories of them both. My daughter was a toddler then and would run down the street into the arms of either Wilma or Lorne who just laughed waited till we caught up to her. After leaving the neighbourhood, I lost touch with them but read about Wilma's extraordinary work in the community - such a loss. I am honoured to have known them and mourn with those who loved and knew both Wilma and Lorne. Rest in peace.
