Condolence: Good Afternoon Sarah...

My condolences to you and Rick's family.

Rick & I were basketball colleagues over the past 3 decades. It was always a distinct pleasure and a lot of fun whenever and wherever Rick stepped onto the court to referee a game. At game sites Rick engendered an atmosphere of quiet calm, professionalism and mentorship.

Rick never lost sight of the fact we were refereeing a game and managed each game with the expectation it was going to be played and refereed with the same respect and dignity players, coaches and game officials should be extending to each other before and after the game.

Personally, I can say Rick was the consummate 'wing man'. He was a genuine, kind, honest and dependable person. His friendly mixture of being: steady, dependable, firm but fair, yielding yet not capitulating were all blended together into what made Rick, uniquely Rick (I'm dating myself in saying John Wayne like).

Rick has been missed at the basketball meetings. His input was always focused on making refereeing better for both his colleagues and those we served & I'm not alone in saying, when it came to refereeing, Rick was 'one of a kind'.

Rick will be missed both by the kids he served on the court and colleagues who had the good fortune & pleasure to know & work with him both on and off the court.

Regards & Condolences,

Garrey Green

Condolence: To Paul and Rick's family, I share your loss. I spoke to Rick a few weeks ago and thought he was getting better. He was chipper and sarcastic like the wild & crazy guy I hung around with in High School. Wish we had chatted more about our fun times together, playing basketball, at band events, and mostly just partying. Stamford Centre has lost a legend.

Condolence: We are thinking of you and sending our very best to all the family. We never did get to meet Rick senior but we know he must have been a wonderful person to have a son like Rick.
If we can't make it to the funeral, our thoughts will be with you.
In sympathy,
Bev and Rick

Condolence: Paul.....my condolences to the family. I was very saddened to hear of Rick's passing. I thought, I just saw him at the Myer 60th!! Over the past few years, he would come to Bolton to referee basketball tournaments and we got together for lunch or dinner after the games, before he headed back to Guelph. We talked about old times and had some laughs. Sorry I didn't get to visit him after the reunion.

Condolence: I am shocked and deeply saddened to run across the news of Rick's passing. Last September Rick and I ran into each other at the A. N. Myer 60th Reunion and spent practically the entire afternoon together reminiscing with each other and other old friends. It was so great to see him after so many years. We said we would get together later, but sadly I never saw him after the reunion. He was a great fellow student in high school and he still had that humor that I remembered from those days. I regret not having picked up the phone to call him to carry on our conversation. My sincere expression of sympathy to Rick's family members.
