Obituary for Anastasios "Ernest" Ladas

Anastasios "Ernest" Ladas
LADAS, Anastasios (Ernest)- It is with great sadness that the family of Anastasios (Ernest) Ladas announces his peaceful passing on Wednesday, October 23, 2019 at the Niagara General Hospital at the age of 92. Beloved husband of (Hariklia) Helen for 65 years. Cherished Father of George (Lori), Gus, Christina (Yiannis) and Bessie Ladas. Grand-Father of 9 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren.
Pre-deceased by his parents Charalambos and Kostantina Ladas. Anastasios is the eldest brother of George (Diamando), his late sister Fanny and Tim (Niki) Ladas. Born on April 21, 1927 in Thana, Tripolis, Greece, Anastasios immigrated to Winnipeg, Manitoba in 1951 to join his wife Helen and start a new life in Canada. They married in Winnipeg and had two sons. In the early ‘60s, the family moved to Niagara Falls, and had 2 daughters. Ernie and Tim owned and operated the Flaming Steer Restaurant on Main Street in Niagara Falls from the 60’s to the mid 80’s.
Upon retirement he enjoyed being with his family, cooking, and sharing great stories of life and his journey to come to Canada over dinners. He was the best story teller. He also enjoyed meeting up with his friends in the early morning hours for their coffee and chats about daily events.
Thank you to the staff at Eventide for Dad’s care. Margo and Major Renee, we are very grateful for your compassion and kindness.
