SCHWEITZER, Ben - Passed away peacefully on Sunday December 18, 2016 in the comfort of his own home at the age of 85. Beloved husband of Joan (nee Lockhart) for 60 years. Loving father of Bob Schweitzer (Helen), Brenda Morden (Steve), Bev Sims (Greg) and Brian Schweitzer (Tanya). Cherished grandfather of Aaron (Mellissa), Ben Jr., Hailey (Simon), Jasen (Zadien), Leanne (Shawn), Matthew, Robert, Erik and Brian Jr. Great grandfather of Rayden, Connor, McKenna, Amelia, Owen, Avery. Predeceased by his sister Joy and great grandson Brady. Ben is survived by many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. Ben was a member of the Niagara Falls Fire Department for 28 years and retired as a Platoon Chief in June, 1989. He was a member of E.M.O. and was a leader with Boy Scouts Canada for many years. Ben was always happy when he was helping someone else. He was decorated by the city of Niagara Falls for his part in the rescue of a young girl in 1962.
Family will receive friends at the MORSE & SON FUNERAL HOME, 5917 Main Street, on Thursday December 22, 2016 from 12 - 1:30 PM with A funeral service taking place at 1:30 PM. Interment to follow at Lundy’s Lane Cemetery. For those who wish memorial donations to One Foundation would be appreciated.
