CATTANACH, Eleanor Mary- Eleanor passed with her family by her side in Niagara Falls on Saturday, February 2nd at the age of 89. Loving wife of Robert for 60 years. Beloved mother of Mary Dempsey (Paul) and Anne (Rob Smith), and grandmother of Sean, Erin (fiance Ian MacAfee) and Colin. Dear sister-in law of Lachlan and Isabelle Cattanach, Catherine Troyer and Lorraine Costello, and loving aunt to her nephews and nieces. Predeceased by her parents William and Lidia Costello, her brother Jack Costello and her brother-in-law Ray Troyer. Eleanor taught primary school in Hamilton prior to her marriage, and ESL in Niagara Falls after moving there in 1978. Active member of Stamford Lane United Church, and devoted volunteer for many charities, including the United Way, Family Service Ontario, and Family and Children’s Services of Niagara, where she dedicated many years, including as President of the Board.
Cremation has taken place. Visitation will be held at Morse & Son Funeral Home, 5917 Main Street on Friday, February 8th from 2-4 & 7-9 pm. Service will be celebrated in Stamford Lane United Church on Saturday morning, February 9th at 11:00 am. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Stamford Lane United Church or the charity of your choice.
