Condolences

Condolence From: Robynn
Condolence: Grandma Goose was the strongest, kindest and most loving person I have, or ever will know. Her door was always open to all, and she always made you feel welcomed. She was a great mother, grandmother, great grandma and great great grandma. Her smile was contagious and her laughter was musical. I will forever cherish the time I had to spend with her and will remember all the cherished memories we shared. I think I can speak for anyone that knew her, that this world is a better place simply because she was a part of it. Her memory will live on in her children, grandchildren, great grandchildren and great great grandchildren. You will be missed. Until we meet again❤️

Condolence: If you need a strong female role model, look no further than Grandma Goose.

Grandma stopped at nothing to bring smiles to the faces of her loved ones and her door was always open to anyone in need (including her furry friends!) If you needed to learn something, you knew you could learn it from grandma.

I think I speak for everyone when I say that we have fond memories running around her back garden eating the berries off the bushes until we made ourselves sick, only to come inside to the smell of fresh chocolate chip cookies (we suddenly weren’t sick anymore!). For a single woman to have sparked so much joy in so many people is a truly beautiful thing.

Although we are deeply saddened, let’s remember all of these beautiful memories with happy hearts and realize how blessed we are to have such an amazing role model in our lives.

I love you, Grandma. We’ll see you soon.

Condolence: Flora was the second child and only daughter of Joe and Dorothy Major.

Flora was always a very considerate and generous person, not only with her family, but also anyone who seemed in need. As a girl, she would arrive at her school earlier in the winter months to light the heater and start soup warming for everyone. Flora loved to relate stories about summers working with friends on farms, enjoying the fresh produce and the tricks they would play. She was an avid skater and good academic. She worked as secretary, assembly worker and a machine shop operator during the war years.

In 1946 Flora and Dick Gorham began their married life together and raised ten children at the same location in Stamford where Flora was born and raised, and also where Flora chose to die.

Flora assisted operating the "Mr. Hot" food concessions with her daughter Betty at the CNE for 35 years, retiring at age 89. She was active in her community and always enjoyed giving freely of herself, volunteering at charity stores and sewing for the needy. Flora was also fond of the times spent with the many friends she met at the Coronation Center, square dancing club and other groups. She loved all children and kept them very comfy in hand knitted outfits, blankets and sweaters as well as keeping EVERYONE cozy in her hand knitted socks!

She was an amazing mother and spectacular Grandmother, great, and great-great grandmother. Always being there to patiently teach a child what she could, including showing a grandson how to shingle a garage roof when she herself was 78!

Flora is dearly loved and will be forever missed.
