Fond memories - first, Harry bought a 27ft sailboat .... then, he and I took the Power Squadron course at night, through the winter (~ 1978). Harry could easily handle his "baby" solo, but I was always happy to join him, especially on Thursday evenings, when we would race similar craft on Lake Ontario (maybe I was the bad-luck charm, as we always came last when I brought my (suspect!) skills on board). I think Marg and the children were 'shanghied' a few times, I'm sure with better results.
In 1982, work took us away from Niagara, eventually spending 15 years in BC. However, in 2009, we returned, and settled in St. Davids, a few blocks from Harry. The Old Firehall became our occasional meeting place, where we could reminiss over a pint. We did not see much of each other over the years, but our friendship was an easy comraderie - never short of something to talk about .... though I think Harry had heard enough from me last year, about my team, Leicester City. This year, he must be laughing.
Condolences to all the family. Harry was a gem, and we'll miss him.
Maureen & Roy Collins, St. Davids
