Obituary for Mary Racine

Mary Racine
RACINE, Mary – It is with broken hearts the family of Mary Julia Racine announce her passing on the 3rd of December, 2019 at Valley Park Lodge nursing home in Niagara Falls, Ontario. Mary was born to the late Alfred “Tex” McEwan and Gladys Britt on October 11, 1933. She married the love of her life Florent “Frenchie ” Racine on December 6,1952. Devoted mother of Ralph Racine, Marianne (Larry) Parkhill, Julia (Jovan) Mrkalj, Peter Racine, Lorraine Racine and Alfred (Wilfred) Racine. Loving grandmother of Steven and Erica Parkhill, Phillip, Alyssa, Nicole and their mother Nancy. Caring great-grandmother of Colton, Ellie and Nora. Dear sister of Nancy (Jack) Holjak. Fondly remembered by many nieces and nephews especially the Katz girls. Beloved wife of the late Florent “Frenchie” Racine (2008).She was predeceased by her parents Gladys and Alfred “Tex” McEwan, her much loved sisters Marguerite Katz and Viola Meredith and her brothers Howard, George and Malcolm ”Tuffy” McEwan. Mom worked as a Switchboard operator with Bell Canada in her younger years. She became a stay at home mom to raise her six children. The love and devotion she showed to her children and family was truly remarkable. She was a kind, quick witted and loyal person who passed down her beliefs and taught us to have good morals. When the kids were old enough mom took a part time job that spanned 25 years with Sears in the catalogue ordering department. She loved her job and the discount she received. Mom was an avid sports fan, especially hockey and baseball. We grew up on lots of house parties full of family, dancing and singing well into the night. We would like to thank the wonderful caring staff at Valley Park Lodge especially Cindy, Dianna, Angela, Beano, Mirella, Danuta, Judy, Aleshia and Mabel.
A service of celebration of Mary’s life will be held at Morse & Son Funeral Home, 5917 Main St on Friday December 6, 2019 at 11am.
