Life Story for Melissa Ellen Shawanoo (Watson)

Melissa Ellen Shawanoo (Watson)
SHAWANOO, Melissa Ellen (Watson) – In the morning sun on January 15th, 2019 the Daughter, Mother, “Nana Lucy”, Friend, Warrior and Scholar, Melissa found peace. She will be missed by her loving Father Howard Watson, her adoring children Willow Aleka Shawanoo, River Aleksandr Shawanoo, and her “favourites” Heath Embury and Malina Cannon; predeceased by sister Heidi Ellen Watson (1971) and devoted Mother Georgia Ellen Watson (2017). Survived by her precious Great-Aunt Joanne Filer, her treasured Aunt Lynda Mitchell (Lloyd), Uncle Doug Filer (MJ) and Aunt Bonnie Watson. Her spirit including her love of History and Rock n’ Roll will live on through her “pride and joy” grandchildren Hudson Howard and Winter Georgia-Louise Embury, who will miss their “Nana Lucy” profoundly. She leaves behind a legacy through her dear friends and the friends of her children, who will miss her incredible presence deeply, especially Ashley Parazader and Jesse Whittom. She will be missed by many cousins; Jennifer Watson Hunsburger (Jamie), Kelly Orr Camelia (John), Alison Orr, Jane Mitchell Thibeault (Claude), Jena Mitchell (Rob Antle), Ken Watson, Peter Orr, Michael Filer (Evelyn), David Filer (Holly), Jim Filer and many more. The loss of Melissa is felt coast to coast in Canada and as far as Belgium where she maintained many lifetime friendships.
There will be no funeral as per her wishes. Cremation has taken place. A private interment will be held at Lundy’s Lane cemetery. In lieu of flowers, as Melissa was an advocate for Mental Health, she would have loved any donations to go towards Canadian Mental Health. Arrangements in care of MORSE & SON FUNERAL HOME, 5917 Main Street. Memories, photos and condolences may be shared at www.morseandson.com
