Obituary for Thomas Wilford Sauder

Thomas Wilford Sauder
SAUDER, Thomas Wilford- Thomas Wilford Sauder passed away peacefully at home. He celebrated his 95th birthday with his family on March 23, 2019. Tom shared 68 years of loving marriage with Annabelle (Mitchinson). He was the Dad who was always there for Becky and Tim. Tom will be missed immensely by Becky and her husband Brian Watkinson, Tim and his wife Barb (Jurkiewicz), four grandsons and eight great grandchildren - Tim and Dawn Watkinson and their children Luke, Brooke, Violet and Trevor; Brent and Brooke Watkinson and their daughters Lily and Zoe; Adam Sauder and Samantha Hanson and their daughter Willa; and, Braden Sauder and Hallie Switzer and their daughter Laska. He was known as Uncle Willie to his many nieces and nephews. People know Tom from his years running Sauder Oil, selling real estate and as a millwright. He served overseas in World War II and always enjoyed the fact that he was able to vote at age 18 as a member of the army (when the voting age was 21). Tom was very generous with his time and expertise as a volunteer, whether taking the time to introduce countless visitors to Niagara Falls or as a very active, long-time member of Stamford Kiwanis where he served as President in 1989-90. He was very committed to Stamford Presbyterian Church. Everyone who knew Tom experienced and was touched by his kindness and quiet wisdom.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Morse & Son Funeral Home. Keeping with Tom’s wishes cremation has taken place and a private family celebration of his life has been held. Consistent with his generous approach to life, the family suggests that any donations support Project SHARE in Niagara Falls. Condolences, photos and memories may be shared at www.morseandson.com
