Life Story for Willo Morningstar

Willo Morningstar
MORNINGSTAR, Willo - September 20, 1934-March 5, 2019. Only 80 days after the passing of her husband and soul-mate, Larry, the family sadly announces the passing of Willo Morningstar (nee Vrooman). Proud mother of Carol Morningstar (Dave) and Colleen Morningstar, and son-in law Rob (Sandra) Misiak. Predeceased by her loving husband of 63 years, her oldest daughter Cathy (Morningstar) Misiak; and parents Harry and Jessie Vrooman. Her great joy was her grandchildren, Derek (Vicky) Morningstar, Andrea (Shaun) Clegg, Ty and Sara Johnsson, Ryan and Nicole Misiak, Will Nass, and her precious great-grandchildren Owen and Mya. She is survived by her only sibling, Wally Vrooman (Nancy). Willo attended Queenston Public School, Stamford Collegiate, and London Normal School. She started and ended her 27 year teaching career at John Marshall School, and also taught at Kitchener Street and Cherrywood Acres. At Stamford Lane United Church, Willo was a volunteer Money Treasurer for 61 years, a charter member of the Tri-M Club, and United Church Women. Willo arranged bus trips for her friends to various theaters and cruises. She was involved with the Junior Women’s Hospital Auxiliary for 20 years, a past- president of the Niagara Falls Lioness Club and a past member of Stamford Chapter IODE. She was an avid bridge player, loved games of golf, and her Red Hat friends. Willo and Larry enjoyed extensive travel together. We wish to send hugs and love to the staff of Queenston Place Retirement Home who provided exceptional care, especially in the past few days. We thank Bella Long Term Care and Valley Park Lodge for watching over Willo as she visited Larry, while also providing him with excellent care. We appreciate all the angels at these three homes. Willo demonstrated the most powerful will to live as she courageously battled cancer a number of times.
Willo is resting at the Morse and Son Funeral Home, 5917 Main Street, Niagara Falls. Visitation will be held on Friday, March 8 from 2:00 to 4:00 and 7:00 to 9:00 pm. Her Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, March 9, 2019 at 1:00 pm, at Stamford Lane United Church, 3855 St. Peter Avenue, Niagara Falls. Interment will follow at Fairview Cemetery. Donations in Willo’s memory will be grateful accepted by the Cancer Society, Alzheimers Society, Stamford Lane United Church, or the Canadian Transplant Association.
