Condolences

Condolence From: Glenn Darling
Condolence: The beauty of the next world is such, that were you to glimpse it for but a fraction of a second, you would instantly want to be there. So say the writings of the Baha'i Faith, which my friend Julius and I have espoused for some 40 years now. Thus there is no doubt in our minds, that his dear mother is very happy in her new surroundings.

Maria was always so kind to me over the years when Julius and I lived and worked in close proximity to each other. I remember her being like a loving mother hen to her children, and to Julius in particular. Julius would get frustrated when she repeatedly reminded him of subtle little things, like not gulping down his food because he had to be somewhere in a hurry. Going to church was another suggestion that Maria spoke to Julius about all the time.

As the years went by and Julius began to raise his own two children, Maria would dote on them like only a good Hungarian grandmother could. Lexy and Alex were probably too young to see it, but the degree of love that Maria showed them, left no doubt that they were so very special to her.

Sometimes in life, we get curves thrown at us for reasons we do not understand. In fact such a curve is the reason that I am writing these few words here today, some 6 months after Maria winged her flight into the next world. I just today learned of her passing, while looking for a video that Julius posted on the internet several years ago, about flying his small plane.

And so dear Maria, I send you a big hug in the world beyond, from Nancy and myself, and I hope you will look up my Hungarian in-laws, Andrew and Beatrice Toth, and tell them we love them very much. Oh, and by the way Maria, when I got sick back in 1994, Julius talked on the phone with me in the Yukon every single day for many months on end. You taught him the lesson of compassion very well. His constant encouragement has a lot to do with the fact that I am even alive today. Thank you.
