Life Story for John Coyne

COYNE, John - Born December 25, 1921, in Warrington, England, and peacefully passed away on Sunday August 6, 2006, at the Greater Niagara General Hospital at the age of 84 years. Beloved husband of Joan, for 59 years, loving father of Pauline Coyne, of Niagara Falls, Christine (Paul) Julian, of Niagara Falls, Alan John (Becky) Coyne, of Sarnia, and Josephine (Byron) Massard, of Niagara Falls. Cherished grandfather of Tim (Chantelle) Coyne, Mark (Janet) Coyne, Karen Julian, Lesley, Jessica and Amanda Massard. Cherished great grandfather of Austin and Mariah Coyne. Dear brother of Charles (Margaret) Coyne, of Australia, Tex (Ellen) Coyne and Tony Coyne, both of England. Predeceased by his brothers Edward, James and Gerard. John served in the Royal Navy during the Second World War and Korean Conflict. John was a member of the Royal Canadian Naval Association and of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 479 and an honorary life member of Knights of Columbus. His passion for music resulted in many years of involvement as a spirited performer in the Gentleman Songsters and Past Director of Our Lady of the Scapular Choir.
John is at the MORSE & SON CHAPEL of the MORGAN FUNERAL HOMES, 5917 Main Street, where his family will receive friends on Wednesday from 2-4 and 7-9 pm. Vigil will be held at the funeral home on Wednesday afternoon at 3:00 o’clock. A memorial service under the auspices of the Royal Canadian Naval Association will be held at the funeral home on Wednesday evening at 7:30 o’clock. A funeral mass will be celebrated at Our Lady of the Scapular Church on Thursday morning 10:00 o’clock. Rite of committal to follow at Pleasantview Cemetery. In memory of John those who wish may make a memorial donation to the Jeff Morgan Emergency Room Fund at GNGH, or to the Heart & Stroke Foundation.
