Obituary for Lillian Margaret (Lil) HENDERSON

HENDERSON, Lillian Margaret (Lil) - It is with great sadness, that Helen and Tom (Tania) announce the passing of their beloved mother, Lillian at the St. Catharines General Hospital on February 10, 2005. Lil was the loving wife of the late H.B. (Hendy) Henderson (1988) and a resident of Niagara Falls since 1957. Lil was the best friend and golfing partner of the late Ede Vicary and special Gramma to John and Abby. Lil bravely dealt and lived with Alzheimers for the past thirteen years showing courage, strength, humour, kindness, a big smile and expressive gorgeous blue eyes.
Lil was a loving and devoted wife, mother and gramma. Her expertise in the kitchen was only surpassed by her game of golf, which was her greatest passion. She served on the executive of Oaklands, Queenston and St. Davids Golf Clubs for years. She represented the Niagara District by sitting on the executive of the Canadian Ladies Golf Association. Lil enjoyed helping and promoting junior golfers in the Niagara area and organizing golf tournaments. Her biggest thrill in the golf world was scoring for Dave Stockton and Raymond Floyd at the Carling World Golf Championship in 1967. We are so proud that our mother won numerous club championships and honours at many golf tournaments throughout her career and also played in the Niagara District Champion of Champions for over 15 years.
We are truly thankful for the wonderful caring staff at Linhaven, for their constant love, support and stimulation of Lil for the last three years. Special thanks to Mom’s devoted Nurse Chris, whose dedication and commitment to Mom’s care was superb!
The family will receive friends at the MORSE & SON CHAPEL of the MORGAN FUNERAL HOMES, 5917 Main Street, on Monday February 14th from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Cremation has taken place and a private service will be held. In Lil’s memory and in lieu of flowers, donations to the Marlene Streit Awards Fund which promotes junior girls golf in Ontario or to the Alzheimer Society of Canada Research Program, would be greatly appreciated by the family.
