Dear Tom and Helen: I had mixed feelings when I heard about the passing of your mother. She was a remarkable lady and a person for whom I have many fond memories. It was always with great pleasure that I accepted her endless invitations for dinner. She was always so genuinely happy to welcome people into her home and she always gave me, and I'm sure everyone else, the comfortable feeling that what's hers is yours. I always tried to 'drop by' on the weekend for one of her "roast beast" dinners - which were thee best on the planet! I will also remember her for her calm, cool demeanor on the golf course. On occasion - perhaps for sheer amusement or masochism - she would invite Tom and I along for a round of golf. We of course would muscle the ball all over the acerage and make a general mess of things, while Mrs. Henderson - showing infinite patience and calm - would split the fairway at 180 yards out and make the game look so maddeningly easy. She always had smile and a word of encouragement no matter how frustrated we got. My memories of her will always be of a warm loving mother to Tom and Helen, a doting and carrying wife to Hendy, and a true and loving friend to all who knew her. She was a very special lady and a friend I have missed for far too long. Goodbye for now ... until we meet again.
