EVANS, David Francis (Smurf) - On Monday January 17, 2005 David passed away peacefully, surrounded by his loving family at the Greater Niagara General Hospital. Loving husband of Geri, and loving and devoted father of Joshua and Adam. Beloved son of William and Marjorie Evans. Loving brother of Jo-Anne (Jim) Arnold, Colleen (Jim) Tatarnic and Jim (Chris) Evans. Son-in-law of Gladys Winkworth (Hank Wilson) and predeceased by his father-in-law Chuck Winkworth. Brother-in-law of Marilyn Taylor, Dawn McLaughlin (the late Paul), Evelyn Winkworth, Charlotte Bath and Sandy (Emilio) Iovio. Uncle of Michael, Gregory, Caitlin, Elana, Dylan, Amy, Jeremy, Jason (Christina), Michelle (Brad), Charity, Morgan and Johnny Jr. David is survived by many aunts, uncles, cousins, great-nephews and great-nieces. He was predeceased by his grandparents Francis and Camilla Evans, William and Ellen Connolly and cousin Bob Dwyer.
David was a volunteer Firefighter with the Chippawa Fire Department, Station #4, giving twenty years of service; he also gave twenty years of service to General Motors. David was an avid baseball player and hockey fan.
Friends may call at the MORSE & SON CHAPEL of the MORGAN FUNERAL HOMES, 5917 Main Street on Tuesday from 7-9 p.m. and on Wednesday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. The Firefighters from Station # 4 will do a file-past on Wednesday at 7:30 p.m. A Vigil for David will be held at the funeral home on Wednesday at 8 p.m. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Thomas More Church on Thursday morning at 11 o’clock. Rite of Committal will follow at a later date. In memory of David, those who wish may make a memorial contribution to an education fund for his children Joshua and Adam or to the G.N.G.H.
